This is an example of the Imprint type of Lesher dollar, with a space provided for various merchants to add their business name and location. Approximately 40 of these are known without any imprint. Adna G. Wilde, Jr. penned the definitive article about these intriguing pieces, which was published in the February 1978 issue of The Numismatist. More recently, the American Numismatic Association has updated information by Wilde posted on their web site, www.money.org. Wilde is currently aware of 40 different examples without imprints, 26 of those with numbers.This is a wonderful example from an interesting series.
