1858 PCGS XF45 RPD-301  CAC

Only a few have been certified by PCGS and even fewer have a CAC sticker...

 

One variety of the 1858 Half Dime consists of a quite obviously doubled date. The engraver punched the first date way too high in the die, then repunched the date in the proper position. No attempt appears to have been made to obliterate the original punching, as the underdate is quite clear, even on circulated examples. Undertypes can be seen on each digit of the date.
