1850 P3CS Three Cent Silver, Judd-125 Original, Pollock-147, R.4, PR62 PCGS. The obverse features a Liberty cap surrounded by rays. LIBERTY is near the base of the cap with the date below. On the reverse, a circular palm branch encloses the Roman numeral III and is framed by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Struck in silver with a plain edge. This design was by Franklin Peale and modeled after the similarly designed gold dollar from 1836. Deeply toned gunmetal-gray. The strike is sharp except on the E in LIBERTY. No marks are evident but the surfaces are somewhat subdued by the original toning.
