John J. ford, Jr. Collection of Medals
One of the big highlight of the Whitman Philadelphia coin show this Sept. 2013 will be an amazing collection at auction and what will be the final chapter to the Ford Collection. John Ford loved tokens, medals, and Americana and these items are one of the most important collections ever to be offered.
Our buyers will of course be attending this auction and if you have an interest in buyer representaion please feel free to contact Brian or Paul in our main Scarsdale Coin office prior.
What is too much money for a Hobo nickel?
This question was asked me last year when a Bert Hobo nickel sold at the FUN show for almost $14,000 recently we saw a new ceiling when another Hobo sold for just under $25,000. So the question is "too much" or "not nearly enough"
I side on the not nearly enough...
Many of todays examples are one of a kind pieces that truly are remarkable works of art...at least IMHO
Watch carvers like Howard Thomas, Shane Hunter, Paolo Curcio, Aleksy Saburov, Marcus Hunt, Steve Cox who's work have been selling for such modest amounts ($100-$250) These are the sleepers today and I would suggest to my readers that now is a BUY period for these masterpieces.
Happy Hunting
